Festuris joins the North and the South of Brazil

One of the most important tourism business trade fairs in South America, Gramado Tourism Trade Show stands out as it consolidates the most effective presence of representatives from the North to the South of Brazil. Recently were confirmed two destinations from extreme points of the country: Pará state, which is renowned as the birthplace of ecotourism in Brazil, and the city of Cambará do Sul, so-called “the Land of Canyons”. Both destinations already confirmed their participation in Festuris, which will take place from 22 to 25 November, at Serra Park Center of Fairs and Events, in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil.

The North Region of Brazil, formed by seven states - Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins – has attractions directed to the environment, mainly due to the Amazon rainforest. Offering several options for the practice of a “natural tourism”, as long as the sustainability is nowadays an up-to-date subject, the most disclosed to the world Brazilian North Region becomes, welcoming people who come to see its natural landscapes. As for Pará state, it presents beaches in the seaside
and in the rivers, untouched forests, hillsides, lakes and the greatest amount of the Amazon rivers. The state capital, Belém, is one of the five biggest metropolitan areas in the country, with a complete urban infrastructure. It has several museums and popular or erudite cultural spaces.

According to the tourism secretary of Pará Adenauer Góes, the participation in the last edition gave to the state great visibility in the segments of cultural and religious tourism, mainly because it is brought to the event, supported by the Archidiocese of Belém, the statue of Our Lady of Nazareth. “It is an icon on the religiosity, faith, devotion and also the religious tourism for us”, says Góes. To the president of Pará Tourism Company (Paratur), Mrs. Socorro Costa, the liaison of Pará and Rio Grande do Sul is very important to the promotion of their tourist products: “At Gramado Tourism Trade Show we have the opportunity to present Pará state as The Amazon Masterpiece to national and international markets”.

Cambará do Sul, in the southernmost state of Brazil, stands out due to its natural treasure consisted of canyons which made the region to be knowned as “the land of canyons in Brazil”. The place was already scenery of artistic productions such as soap operas and TV series of great success on Brazilian TV. The main attraction there is the impressive Itaimbezinho Canyon, the largest of all and famous in the country, 5.8 kilometres long, around 2 kilometres wide and 700 meters deep. In this park there are unforgetable tracks.

Cambará´s mayor Aurélio Alves de Lima tells its town is reaching its tourist majority, by actuating in a more professional and organized way, developing structural projects as Tourism in Schools and previewing the future, through the establishment, for instance, of partnerships with national and international tour operators. “The choice of Cambará do Sul as one of the destinations for Fifa World Cup 2014 increases our responsibility and strengthen our town´s tourist identity like a typical Canyonland, as it is the chief reason why we receive tourists from all the world”, says Alves de Lima.

Aurélio still points out that Festuris will be the opportunity to show the trade a little bit more of the serious work the municipality of Cambará do Sul have been done, through the partnerships, the hire of specialized consulting services, the constant dialogue with the community and the strong will to turn tourism into the main activity of the local economy.
