In 2009, Gramado Tourism Trade Fair (Festuris) opened its doors to a new market niche. Festuris released the LGBT Tourism Trade Show, placing itself in the forefront of this segment implementation among the Brazilian trade fairs. This year, Festuris internationalizes LGBT Trade Show, by counting on the participation of a LGBT group from Argentina, as well as by divulging the Convention of International Gays & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).
Several countries apply for the right to accomplish the Convention which will be held in Brazil in 2012, from 11 to 14 April. “It is a conquest of Florianopolis city, in Santa Catarina State, to host this very important event which will be presented to public during Gramado Tourism Trade Fair 2011, says Maria Dalla Chiesa, International Relations Director of Abrat GLS (Brazilian LGBT Tourism Association). She celebrates the internationalization of Festuris, which means more opportunities to divulge Brazil and the own Convention. “The larger number of destinations we reach, the better”, says Maria.
To Festuris Director Eduardo Zorzanello, the 23rd edition consolidates the segment LGBT. “We invest more and more in the promotion of interchanges and in the growth of networks that this public can effect by taking part of Festuris”, declares Zorzanello.
The purchasing power of American LGBT public must reach U$D 835 billions in 2011, according to Witeck-Combs. According to IGLTA, only the travel market for gays and lesbians in the USA means nowadays U$D 70 billions a year.
